Canada Study Visa

When it comes to study abroad Canada is still one of the favorite countries for Indian students. To study in Canada a study has to apply for student visa Canada or study permit. Canada study visa can be applied under two categories: Students Direct Stream Program (SDS) and General category. For Indian students below are the eligibility criteria under SDS Program:

They should have a valid passport.
In IELTS a minimum of 6 bands in each module required for UG &PG.
The student has to pay first year’s tuition fee in advance.
The student has to buy GIC (Guaranteed Investment of Certificate) $10,000 CAD.
The Institution in which the student is applying should have registered DLI (Designated Learning Institution) number.

Documentation required for SDS:

Letter of acceptance from an Institution registered under DLI.
A copy of the medical examination conformation
GIC Payment proof (i.e. $10,000 CAD)
A proof of first year’s tuition fee payment
IELTS Score Letter.

Under SDS students have more colleges and institutions to apply for. The time take to process visa application under SDS is 45 working days or less. Under SDS visa is processed faster leser financial documents are required.

General Category

General category or Non-SDS student visa for Canada is an option for those students who don’t qualify under SDS. Although the formalities are simpler to SDS except from financial documents and time duration. Under general category students have to show extra financial documents and study permits take around 60 working days to process.

These requirements are:

Stronger financial proof; Bank savings, investments, education loan etc.
Proof of work experience along with salary slips for last three months.
Proof of income such as Form 16 or income tax returns documents of the applicant or the sponsor.
Rest documentations as similar to SDS program such as; IELTS score, education documents Medical, letter of acceptance, Bio-metrics etc.
